Bill of Material- Costing Technician

POSITION SUMMARY

Bill of Materials /Costing Technician maintains BOM for Domestic merchandise, creates and maintains domestic and import cost sheet, which are foundations for accurate purchase of raw materials, issuance of authorizations and accurate financial reporting. Track and analyze all changes to cost, freight, duty, FOB price, and labor to yearly update cost at Prime Cost.

RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:

· Initiate transfer and validates Bill of Materials from PLM to RLM, for the new line, new styles & recolors at the salesman sample, initial production, and production package stages.

· Verify accuracy of data in system by reviewing, correcting, and deleting incorrect data as per standard procedures.

· Keep close communication with production & procurement about BOM availability for fast track items.

· Collaborate with procurement and production team creation of Alternate BOM’s for the accurate utilization of new or existing materials when it is being substituted.

· Actively engages in cross functional communication between PD, Technical, Production, Procurement & Factory in any BOM related issues.

· Creates and maintains cost sheets for the new styles at the different production stages.

· Troubleshoot cost report issues in collaboration with Finance team.

· Assist thread color selection, Lab Dip process and communication with cross functional departments on all thread related issues.

· Execute and keep track of Product Change notices issued by different departments.

· Assist in the development of procedures related to the efficient use of PLM & RLM.

· Assist Quarterly Markdown Process: calculating new cost, creating one line cost sheets, cleaning previous data to ensure accuracy in finance report.

· Assist Short Roll or P Programs set up in RLM: recalculates cost & verify BOM roll.

· Preparation of cost sheets for yearend roll and related activities.

· Updates cost sheets across multiple divisions for prime cost.

· Support Product Engineers in creation of Markers, Standard usages calculation for the costing of the new styles or material updates and updates usages in PLM

· Ships packages to factories, suppliers & manages interoffice mail for the technical department.

· Receives and logs incoming FOP, PP, Wash & test sample garments from factories, distribute contents among engineers.

· Performs other related duties as required and or as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE DESIRED:

· Bachelor’s Degree, Liberal Arts, Apparel Production Management, Computer Science or trade school and equivalent experience.

· 2-3 years’ experience in Bill of Materials or costing.

SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:

· Proficient computer skills essential to performance of job functions.

· Excellent communication and analytical skills. Attention to detail.

· Ability to work collaboratively in multifunctional teams and handle multiple projects.

· Proactive in taking initiative as problems or opportunities arise and following up on assignments.
