The Machine Operator II fabricates and assembles metal trowel blades and equipment using multiple machines, such as press breaks, cutters, shapers and punch presses; produce metal products according to customer or employer specifications, as well as using the punch press. The Machine Operator II must be able to read and interpret diagrams, sketches and blueprints to determine operations, required materials and timeframes for customer orders or regular stock.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

· Mechanically inclined; knowledge of and ability to use tools

· Read a tape measure and successfully perform general math skills

· Operate a forklift; forklift certification or license is a plus

· Ability to stand or sit for long periods of timeAssisting with inventory accuracy; log items made and ensure items are stored and labeled properly

  • Ability to use cutting machines for bend products; operate the sheer and Benten bender to cut and bend products
  • Keep work area clean and organized
  • Keep PPE gear well-maintained and in safe working order
  • Inspect finished product to ensure it is defect-free and ready for the next step in production

· Other duties as assigned by the area supervisor

· Countersink blades according to specifications – minimum 200/hr

· Assemble blades according to specification – minimum 120/hr

Physical Demands and Work Environment

The employee frequently is required to sit or stand for long periods of time. The employee is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and explosives. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

PPE Requirements

In some instances, this job may require work in areas where ear protection is necessary. If ear protection is required, it must meet OSHA’s Hearing Protection Requirements. The employee is required to wear steel-toed shoes or boots, safety glasses that meet OSHA and ANSI Standards for maximum eye protections, and gloves that meet OSHA Standards for hand protections.'
