Wahl Clipper Corporation, a global manufacturer of branded Consumer and Professional products, has an opportunity for a dynamic, forward-thinking Engineering Leader at our Global Headquarters in Sterling, IL.
The Global Director of Manufacturing Engineering will play a pivotal role in shaping and optimizing operational practices across our Engineering Organization(s) around the globe. Lead, develop and align the global manufacturing engineering efforts around equipment, processes, and technologies for Operations are a few of the key deliverables. In addition, this role will be an advocate for integrating best practices and learnings into our Engineering Operations and establish scalable processes, tools, and frameworks. In addition, this position will serve as the Manufacturing Technical Expert interfacing with the R&D/NPD functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Excellent project management skills; A proven expert in planning, organizing, and managing cross-functional projects, streamlining operational practices for clarity and simplicity. Responsible for providing leadership and direction to the Manufacturing Engineering Team(s) to ensure that the objectives of all projects are accomplished within a prescribed time frame and funding parameters.
- Ability to work with and influence across functions and global locations; Lead key Engineering initiatives requiring cross-functional coordination, fostering rapid and scalable growth across Engineering teams, Quality, and Operations. Integrate the activities of the Engineering Teams with the related activities of other departments to ensure success and quality in all projects.
- Comfortable working in complex/uncertain matrix environment.
- Drive commonality and adherence to processing standards; Define standards, key metrics, benchmarks, and review processes to drive standardization across Engineering while incorporating continuous improvement.
- Understanding part requirements and translation to manufacturing processes.
- Arrange for appropriate engineering personnel and resources, schedule and assign duties to engineering personnel according to knowledge, experience, and specific discipline.
- Manage all aspects of the Engineering Team(s) including but not limited to provide leadership to Team Members, employee development, determining workload and delegating assignments, training, monitoring, and evaluating performance.
- Provide technical and engineering support as requested through the organization regarding technical information and engineering problems.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- BS in an Engineering discipline (or related), MBA or MS in Engineering preferred
- 10 years of manufacturing engineering experience
- Experience with capital acquisition of equipment and plant assets
- Excellent strategic planning and project management skills
- Possess high level of initiative, personal responsibility, high productivity, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Ability to travel globally approximately 10-15%
- Global experience is preferred
- Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail
