Job Title: “ASSOCIATE PASTOR OF WORSHIP ARTS”
Position Description:
The Worship Arts Pastor will have a passionate love for Jesus and a desire to see lives and communities changed by the Gospel. He or she reports to the Lead Pastor and is responsible for the development of all worship and creative arts teams including the tech support teams.
He/she is responsible for training and shepherding bands and overseeing the musical and technical elements of the worship service, including musical selection and arrangements, and, as they develop, dance, drama, choirs and other worship art forms.
Additionally, this position is responsible for the technical (sound, lighting and computer) aspects of the worship services and oversees the key components for the overall feel and aesthetic – which includes collaborating with and overseeing the staff and teams responsible for media, video production and sound engineering.
He/she is a student of culture, watching and keeping in tune with what connects with people musically, visually and socially and able to apply it in a redemptive way to the church.
Qualifications:
- Three years minimum experience as worship/creative pastor or worship leader
- Formal training in a creative program such as music is preferred – or equivalent experience
- Fulfill the duties required of Waipuna Chapel Covenant Members as outlined in the membership covenant
- A fully-supportive spouse (if married)
- Experienced and proficient in leading worship in music, with a strong confident voice and stage presence
- Fulfill the character qualifications of an elder as taught in the Scriptures
- Philosophical alignment with church leadership and doctrine
- Passionate about casting vision and developing leaders
- Commitment to continued personal leadership & character development
Knowledge and Skills:
- Possess a strong pastoral gifting, spiritual discernment, verbal communication skills, and cultural awareness
- A strong gift for leadership and a proven track record of developing leaders of leaders
- Proven success at multi-tasking, time management, and prioritizing
- Proven ability to work with and maintain positive, loyal relationships with those inside and outside the church
- Gifted vocalist and musician – humble and Spirit-led
- Technology savvy with computers, media, video, lighting and AV
- General knowledge of running sound, stage/set design, and lighting
- Experience working with multi-tracks and click track is preferred
- Knowledge of Planning Center is preferred
Expectations and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead all aspects of Creative Arts Ministry
- Develop in writing in conjunction with Lead Pastor and execute a long term vision for Waipuna Chapel’s Worship Arts Ministry
- Schedule, plan, organize and lead worship experiences
- Build bands and train worship leaders to lead them.
- Work closely with pastoral team and other creative arts team members to develop and integrate various creative elements into a cohesive message/campaign that supports a sermon series or other vital areas/events of church life.
- Coordinate and oversee all technical areas of creative arts ministry including sound, lighting, and video.
- Recruit, train, encourage and ensure the spiritual care of all teams.
- Develop and disciple a team of Directors and Assistants to lead various aspects of creative ministries including audio, video, lighting, graphics – some staff, some volunteer.
- Conduct regular meetings and team training as needed
- Plan and monitor annual budget for various Worship Arts ministries.
- Supervise maintenance and acquisition of music and A/V technology equipment.
- Recruit, train, organize, and shepherd music and production volunteers.
- Continued development of gifts and skill as a musician and leader.
- Ensure communication and coordination between creative arts and technical ministries.
- Work closely with Makawao Campus Pastor to provide oversight of worship ministry on Makawao Campus, helping to build out and equip the worship team for weekly ministry.
- Provide training and training materials as needed for Makawao Campus
- Oversee budget of sound and tech equipment for Makawao Campus.
Reporting Structure:
- Worship Arts Pastor will report directly to Lead Pastor
- Worship Arts Pastor will attend weekly staff meetings
- Worship Arts Pastor will participate in annual performance evaluation
- Worship Arts Pastor will attend Board of Elder meetings as requested
Compensation & Benefits:
- 48K-52K a year in salary
(A portion or all of which may be applied to a Clergy Housing Allowance as outlined by IRS policy)

- Full-time employment is subject to a 90 day probationary period. During this time employee will be evaluated on his/her competency in the job description as outlined above, chemistry within the existing ministry team and his/her display of Godly character.

Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
