Nursing Assistant I, Emergency Room

As a Nursing Assistant, your primary role is to provide essential assistance to the nursing staff. This includes administering specific treatments and basic nursing care to assigned patients while delivering direct and indirect care in alignment with physician and nursing orders, ensuring the highest standards of age/developmental specific care. Position Highlights:

• Shift Schedule: Full time Evening 11a-11p with an every other weekend rotation.  
• Department: Emergency Room
• Location:  Davie Medical Center

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Licensure, Certification, and/or Registration
• Completion of a North Carolina State Approved Nurse Aide I course.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Nursing Process Participation: Participate in the implementation of the nursing process by providing direct care to patients under the guidance of the Registered Nurse (RN).
2. Special Procedures: Execute special procedures accurately as directed by the Registered Nurse (RN).
3. Safety and Therapeutic Environment: Establish and maintain a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, co-workers, and the facility.
4. Communication: Ensure complete, accurate, and timely communication of patient information to all relevant parties. Communicate effectively with the team, co-workers, patients, and family members in a positive and professional manner.
5. Personal Responsibility: Take personal responsibility and initiative for your performance, professional growth, and development.
6. Age/Developmental Specific Care: Provide patient care in line with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines relevant to the age groups served.

Skills/Qualifications:

• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to perform effectively even with frequent workload changes and competing demands.
• Basic computer skills.

Work Environment:

1. Interaction with patients, family members, visitors, co-workers, and medical staff in diverse situations.
2. Regular exposure to blood-borne diseases, infectious, and contagious diseases.
3. Subject to frequent interruptions.
4. Occasional exposure to radiation hazards.
5. Possible exposure to cleaning agents/chemicals.
6. Occasional irregular hours may be required.
7. Use of personal protective equipment when necessary.
