Job Summary
The Facility Director is responsible for the safety, security, cleanliness, maintenance, order, improvement and day-to-day operations of the facilities, grounds, and vehicles, as well as the development and management of the maintenance budget. This person is responsible for the mechanical operation of the facility including HVAC, plumbing and heating, boiler, parking, and other maintenance operations within the facility. This position requires face-to-face leadership to represent and work with vendors and volunteers in the community. This position involves early mornings, evenings, weekends and on-call responsibilities.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Provide overall coordination of facilities maintenance, including planning, developing, and implementation of preventative maintenance programs and annual improvement plans for facility.
- Provide direct supervision for the maintenance and custodial staff.
- Inform CEO on maintenance and custodial issues and projects as requested.
- Provide direct staff leadership to volunteers, including committees if assigned.
- Develop budgets supporting the preventative and annual maintenance plans, and monitor expenditures against budget.
- Ensure that assigned vehicles are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures..
- Update the facility plans periodically.
- Promote safe work practices and a safe environment for guests and staff.
- Custodial duties as needed.
- Perform additional duties as directed by the CEO.
Qualifications and Skills
Knowledge of:
- Comprehensive knowledge and ability to maintain/troubleshoot and/or repair HVAC, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry and other maintenance-related areas. A special need for pool maintenance/chemical control understanding preferred.
Ability to:
- Communicate effectively at all levels, a strong commitment and philosophy to quality and customer service, the ability and license to drive, and the ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
Skill in:
- Use of: general facility equipment and computers as this position will be responsible for generating memos, budgets and action plans. Skill is also required in time management and prioritizing, budgeting and staff supervision.
