Position Overview
The Export Compliance Specialist is responsible for ensuring that the company’s export activities adhere to US and international rules and regulations. Additionally, they will maintain active communication with key stakeholders to ensure compliance with procedures related to the company's compliance program, and in adherence with U.S and international laws and regulations.

Essential Job Functions
- Ensure exports are compliant with export control laws, such as the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
- Evaluating potential risks related to export activities and propose mitigation strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of export transactions and general compliance activities.
- Participate in internal audits to assess compliance processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist with training employees on trade compliance policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Develop process and documents and work instructions in support of our export compliance program.
- Work with various departments (such as legal, logistics, and sales) to ensure consistent compliance across the organization.
- Support investigating related to potential compliance violations/reporting incidents, and work with Leadership to implement corrective actions and reporting as needed.
- Collaborate with suppliers, carriers, and third-party logistics providers to establish strong working relationships and ensure compliance and effective support.
- Assist with any customs clearance delays and other international shipping related issues.
- Identify areas for process improvement within the export and import function and propose and implement effective solutions to enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Stay abreast of regulatory changes or other potential business impacting issues that may arise proactively communicate with stakeholders.
- Attends international logistics and trade compliance seminars to acquire and further develop a strong understanding of the current logistics arena and to increase analytical logistic skills.
- Works offsite at times and attends non-standard hour Teams / conference calls with other Waldom associates working in other regions/countries (Asia & Europe).
- International travel as needed.
- Interacts closely with all Waldom departmental Managers, Supervisors and Executive Leadership
- 2 years of experience in export/import administration and compliance.
- Professional certification in Export/Import controls and regulations, EAR/ITAR, as well as the USHTS is plus.
- Proven track record in coordinating import and export administration and compliance.
- Analyze and interpret global export regulations and maintain current knowledge of changes.
- Monitor compliance activities and the effectiveness of internal controls.
- Understanding of international and shipping regulations and customs procedures.
- Working knowledge of global commodity classifications and export controls.
- Proficiency in using US Customs tools and databases; AES, BIS, CBP searches, Entity lists, etc.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal teams, vendors, and customers.
- Excellent command of the English language.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Can adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Cetec, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI. Able to create and lead professional presentations.
- Professional communication skills.
