SUMMARY
The Education Manager is responsible for the job-related education and development of all employees for the organization. This includes creation, implementation, and ongoing review of educational programs and materials to effectively onboard newly hired employees as well as develop programs for tenured employees.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY: (* denotes an essential function of the position)
Business Results Orientation
- Ensure accurate tracking of employee education through internal and external sources
- Complete timely follow-up of Education metrics
- Facilitate new hire onboarding and orientation
- Ensure new hire paperwork is completed accurately and completely in accordance legal requirements and company policy
- Complete departmental projects to support the Balanced Scorecard or other business needs
- Ensure job related educational objectives are aligned with the goals of the organization and support each of the functional areas of the company
- Monitor and track costs and establish measurable goals for the education department
- Update education materials and incorporate new information and/or changes in systems in a timely fashion
Establish and maintain appropriate levels of materials to eliminate out-of-stocks and excessive inventory for Pacific training facility
Maintain regular attendance and follow all designated safety practices
Perform other duties not listed as required.

- Communicate necessary information to employees and management

- Monitor company certifications to ensure compliance and provide regular progress updates to affected divisions

- Demonstrate consistency and professionalism while upholding company policies and procedures.
- Assist customers with handling employee issues related to education
Ensure that all departmental policies and procedures are in balance and support company vision
Be responsive and provide superior service to all internal and external customers
Developing Talent
- Deliver all in-house classroom sessions as needed with credibility and confidence
- Use techniques and skills prior to and during class delivery to actively engage all participants in the learning experience
Work as a team member to help improve individual, department and organizational productivity
Provide effective and challenging developmental programs for the growth of all employees and ensure systems are in place to identify and develop future leaders
- Provide resources, support and guidance to stores in support of their job related educational needs
Provide behavioral feedback on participants’ performance during or after the learning experience
Stay current with trends in areas of responsibility
Complete specific developmental tasks as assigned by the Director of Organizational Services
- Complete Safety training as required
Technical Expertise
- Coordinate all job related education classes for the organization
- Conduct classes that achieve desired results on class effectiveness measurements
- Establish credibility as an instructor by demonstrating understanding of course content, using appropriate terminology and relevant business examples, and helping participants apply learning to on-the-job situations.
Use knowledge of company operations to ensure alignment of educational materials.
Convert key knowledge, skills and abilities into content that can be understood and applied by participants.
- Stay familiar with policies, bulletins, memos and other publications that can have an impact on content or materials
- Ensure employees attend compliance related courses at scheduled times and new employees have job related education before starting his/her job
- Ongoing development and review of certification programs for all divisions of the organization
Develop systems that will streamline the new hire process as well as onboarding processes and procedures
Coordinate departmental resources such as the company library, supplies and equipment.
- Adhere to all Wallis Companies safety policies and report all safety incidents to supervisor immediately.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are 1-3 direct reports to this position. Person is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of each position. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning and directing work; managing development and certifications; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees up to and including termination with supervisor’s approval; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education: *Required: Equivalent to high school diploma
Preferred: Four year college degree in related field
Experience: Required: *Over 1 year up to and including 3 years training or public speaking experience
Preferred: Supervisory Experience
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
