Description
The Community Driver is responsible for the safe, reliable and timely transportation of our residents. The Driver respectfully interacts with all residents, family members, visitors, colleagues, and staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Transport residents to and from appointments.
- Provide transportation for the activities department.
- Assist residents in and out of vehicles.
- Some moderate lifting.
- Scheduling appointments.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as business necessitates.
- Maintain a clean and safe resident environment.
- Recognize abnormal changes in body functioning and the importance of reporting such changes to a supervisor.
- Follows proper procedure for clocking in and out for shifts.
- Follows guidelines for uniforms and wears name badge daily
- Meet the physical and sensory requirements stated below and be able to work in the described environment.
- Confirm doctors’ appointments for customers and/or clients, when requested by management.
- Assist in arranging and providing transportation to/from appointments, community events, and others as needed.
- Ensure that the following items are in the transport vehicle prior to the start of the trip:
- Proof of Insurance
- Vehicle Registration
- Accident Reporting Form
- Disposable Camera
- Water
- Pen/Pencil and Writing Tablet
- Flashlight
- Fire Extinguisher
- Emergency Communication (cellular phone or radio).
- Monitor daily documentation and filing.
- Ambulate and transfer residents, utilizing appropriate assistive devices and body mechanics.
- Utilize proper body mechanics when transporting residents and/or clients.
- Assist in the orientation and training of other staff, as requested.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent OR three-six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Have a current/active CPR certification, preferred.
- Must have a valid state driver’s license with no more than one entries; counting accidents, moving violations and failures to appear. All accidents are counted regardless of fault.
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
- Subject to reactions from dust, disinfectants and cleaning chemicals and may be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, and other conditions.
- Use personal protective equipment and supplies when needed.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day.
