Job Summary:
The Wine Manager reports to the Store Manager and is responsible for the overall success of the Wine Department by managing staff, customer service, inventory, product shelf life, and cleanliness to provide the high-quality products and service that customers expect. The Wine Manager is expected to work 5 days per week for a minimum of 40 hours, including one weekend day and one closing shift as Manager on Duty.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Provide exceptional customer service in all areas and uphold the same standards for all Wine Department staff
* Effectively train and educate new Wine employees
* Monitor Wine staff progress by providing regular feedback and conducting annual performance evaluations
* Schedule Clerks on a weekly basis
* Communicate and resolve staffing needs with Beer Manager
* Regularly visit local and non-local stores for inspiration
* Control Wine Department expenses
* Order, stock, and rotate wine at a seasonally appropriate level
* Conduct quarterly inventory for the Wine Department
* Edit vendor-supplied pricing documents as needed
* Carefully audit department for missing price tags and signage
* Strategically merchandise and track sales
* Work with Store Manager to solve department issues and improve procedures
* Delegate work for maximum productivity
* Review weekly invoices
* Build strong vendor relationships
* Participate in meetings with other WCM management staff
* Attend vendor wine events and wine samplings, locally or non-locally
* Plan, schedule, and operate bi-weekly wine tastings in the Wine Department
* Schedule monthly or quarterly Wine events in the upstairs conference room

Requirements
* Must be at least 21 years of age
* High school diploma/GED, required. College degree, preferred.
* Related management experience
* Previous wine-related experience
* Wine or Sommelier Certification, preferred
* Prolonged periods of standing and periods of walking, twisting, lifting, bending, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
* Must be able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds
* Must have holiday and weekend availability
