What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Specialist & Supervisor position at Wanderers' Rest Humane Association, Inc?
This position is 40 hours per week. Must be able to work Sunday-Thursday
Assists the other animal care specialists in providing daily care to the dogs and cats at Wanderers' Rest. Holds staff responsible for tasks and actions. Provide write-ups when necessary. Fulfills tasks and duties as assigned by Shelter Manager. Tasks include cleaning kennels (both cats and dogs), feeding, monitoring, medicating, and performing necessary medical and behavioral testing. In addition, candidate must be comfortable holding and restraining animals, administering vaccinations, drawing blood, and assisting prospective adopters in the selection of animals for adoption. Folding laundry and washing dishes is required with this position. This position involves times of excessive standing, squatting, bending, and leaning when cleaning and performing other tasks.
2 years of prior experience with animals is required. Must be 18 years old and be able to lift 50 pounds. Management experience is a plus. Must be comfortable with both cats and dogs and be able to walk strong dogs. Must be willing to learn, work well as a team and an individual, be respectful and compassionate, perform well under stress, and have good customer service. Weekends and Holidays are required.
