The company maintains a plant in DFW and in Tucson, AZ. DFW focuses on Industrial and Medical while Tucson is focused on Defense and Aerospace. The company is owned by private equity investors wishing to grow the business organically through state of the art CAPEX investment and through strategic acquisitions. In 2021 the company successfully completed its first follow-on acquisition, entering the defense industry.

Job Description:
The Assistant Controller (position) will oversee the control environment that ensures complete, accurate, and authorized transactions being timely summarized into financial and operational data that can be understood by all executives. Secondly, the position will be responsible for mining information and analytically framing it to be probative in decision making.
Monthly, the position is responsible for the trial balance closing process which entails truing up assets and accruals, and reviewing all reconciliations done by a bookkeeper that reports to the position. The position itself reports to the CFO/Controller. A preliminary trial balance will be presented to the Controller/CFO each month. A financial/business analysis of the trial balance will be presented assessing its alignment with expectations and common sense; and will point out areas needing further discovery, reconciliation, or analytics.
Daily, the position oversees the established control environment leading up to the trial balance results. Production control/monitoring is the primary responsibility of the position, which includes the analytic encapsulation of production costs incurred per unit v. the requirement/standards imbedded in the standing Material Resource Planning (MRP) database. In addition to costs, the position will also oversee the analytic reporting of lead times, order sizing and production run sizing with the goal of also comparing results to the MRP data base. The position is responsible for timely reporting of information to facility managers, which includes all cost variances as well as delivery, cycle time and lead time service variances v. the approved and expected standards. The position will also oversee the control environment effecting the company’s investment in Raw, WIP and Finished goods inventory. The position will recommend changes to inventory reserves to better reflect lower of cost/market thresholds and other requirements of GAAP accounting. Specific responsibilities include maintaining reliable reporting of adherence to buffer stocks, adherence to transfer controls as well as policy matters such as competitive bidding requirements and dual sourcing. The position is not a line position but will compel proper decision making through better data mining and probative analytics.
Primary Responsibilities:
· Develop and distribute various financial and operational reports to facility managers
· Oversee inventory with facility managers, suppliers, and external auditors.
· Close the books through to a preliminary trial balance for review by the CFO/Controller
· Provide trial balance analytics of periodic financial results for the purpose of assisting the integrity of the periodic closing process.
· Work with the bookkeeper on Payroll, AR, AP, and with other departments as needed to resolve issues and maintain a coherent control environment
· Complete special projects as required by the COO or CFO and/or suggested by the position and approved by either.
Position Requirements:
· 2-5 years of accounting or cost accounting experience
· 2-5 years of experience demonstrating competency in understanding and interpreting costs in a manufacturing environment.
· SQL report writing is preferred and advanced excel skills is required.
· Experience with JobBoss/E2, Salesforce, and QuickBooks (or similar applications) is required.
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, industrial engineering or data analytics is required
· CPA or CMA credential is a plus
Compensation:
Compensation for the position (to start) will be based on the candidates’ conformity with experience and educational credentials. That said, we expect the skills post hiring to be proven, at which point the salary would be adjusted.
