OR Processing Sterile Tech -PRN
Reporting and accountable to the Surgery Manager and the CNO, the Sterile Processing Tech is responsible for the safety and cleanliness of the operating room, tables and equipment in the Surgery Department.
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
1. Effectively utilizes infection control concepts.
2. Effectively handles all chemical and cleaning agents used for cleaning, decontamination and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
3. Demonstrates the proper loading technique for sterilization method.
4. Operates sterilizer according to the manufacturer's instructions and the department's policy.
5. Demonstrates safety precautions when operating washers and sterilizers.
6. Follows safe lifting techniques as well as proper techniques for handling instruments.
MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High School Graduate or equivalent
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE:
1 year of sterile processing experience preferred
Certification preferred
Physical and Mental Requirements
Often work with infectious specimens. Infection control and sterilization protocols must be followed to minimize these hazards. Position requires frequent hours of standing and stooping.
