Summary: Adjunct Teacher Education Supervisors supervise Teacher Candidates in the field for both graduate and undergraduate teacher education programs in Student Teaching I, Student Teaching II, and Reading Endorsement experiences. This role is a part-time adjunct position that is assigned and compensated on a per-student basis. The functions for this position are listed below.
 
Primary Job Duties:
  • Attend Teacher Candidate Orientation as scheduled by the Director of Teacher Education (DTE)
  • Attend regular meetings, up to once a month, with DTE to clarify program expectations and monitor Teacher Candidate progress
  • Attend  Teacher Candidate Seminars, on campus at WPU, as requested by the DTE
  • Contact  assigned Teacher Candidates before the semester begins or within the first week of the semester to schedule an initial meeting with the Mentor and the Teacher Candidate. Review expectations for the placement and your role as supervisor. Exchange contact information and schedule observations and 3-way meetings (midterm and end of term)
  • Communicate program expectations and documentation requirements to Mentor. Obtain and share forms with Mentor, school, or Teacher Candidate as needed.
  • Observe Teacher Candidates as required by the program (MAT, Undergrad, or Reading Endorsement) during the semester.
  • Troubleshoot problems that may arise during the placement. Inform the DTE immediately of issues that are concerning.  Attend disciplinary hearings if needed.
  • Document Teacher Candidate’s professional growth.  Maintain a file of lessons, observations, assessments and other significant documentation as required by the program.  Submit required documents to the Director of Teacher Education at the end of the semester.  The supervisor is responsible for collecting all forms and signatures from Mentors and Teacher Candidate’s prior to submission to the DTE.
  • Contribute to the support and implementation of the University Strategic Plan.
  • Participate in Warner Pacific University's professional development opportunities.
  • Adhere to University policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrate commitment to a Christian liberal arts education by upholding the mission of the University and abiding by the Employment Standards and Lifestyle Agreement.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Teaching license (expired or current).
  • Minimum of five years teaching experience in a K-12 school district
 
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree or Doctorate in Education
  • Reading endorsement
  • ESOL endorsement
  • Special Education endorsement
  • Administrative license
  • edTPA Trained
 Physical Demands – Work Environment: 
The position is located in a typical office environment.  Professional/business casual attire is required.
