Position Summary
The Billing Clerk position provides a variety of general office support services involving public contact, skilled equipment operation, and maintenance of internal operating records. This position will be responsible for billing claims, and following up on denials for the Child,
Adolescent Health program (CAH), I-Smile @School program and other programs within the department as appropriate. Will assist the Office Manager by answering phone calls, receiving visitors, maintaining files, preparing documents, maintaining meeting minutes and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
- Prepares bills for payment
- Follows up on delinquent payments and claims
- Tracks expenditures and reviews budget with Office Manager on a regular basis
- Maintains a system of records and processes and make recommendations to improve efficiencies
- Answers the phones and provides customer/client service as necessary
- Receive and sort mail daily
- Prepares correspondence and reports as applicable
- Maintains supplies and inventories
- Collects fees, issues permits and deposit funds when appropriate
- Responsible for all other duties as assigned
Education, Skills and Experience
- Graduation from high school or GED and two years of billing experience or a combination of education, training and experience
- Knowledge of organization’s policies, regulations and operations
