The Weatherization Auditor/Inspector is responsible for the proper assessment and accurate measurements of home and recommending energy conservation measures to be installed and estimating the dollar costs for the installation of those measures. This position is responsible for assessing homes of all types according to multiple established programs standards.
A. Training – Obtain all necessary certifications to perform the duties of the position and be willing/able to obtain national certifications to be able to perform Quality Control Inspections of State Weatherization jobs.
B. Assessment – Schedule and visit eligible homes to receive home repair or energy conservation measures and make complete assessment of items needing repairs and energy conservation materials needs in accordance with various program guidelines;
C. Measurements – Take accurate and concise measurements of the dwelling for the purpose of preparing accurate workmanship and materials specifications;
D. Estimating – Estimate cost for all items to be installed or repaired within various program guidelines;
E. Complete Forms – Complete neatly and accurately various funding source and agency forms as required. Assist in the preparation of proposed work write-ups and workmanship and material specifications;
F. Customer Relations – Explaining program benefits and procedures to program participants and take complete and accurate applications for various Agency programs including all necessary intake forms, income verifications and other necessary documentation;
G. Inspections – Return to completed jobs to determine if work was performed according to the initial assessment and program standards and prepare report of deficiencies noted;
H. Perform other Agency duties on a substitute basis as assigned by supervisor;
I. Reliability and Readiness for Work – Report to work as assigned. Refrain from using drugs, alcohol, or any other substances that could impair the ability to do job safely or in any other way impair the employee’s ability to perform the responsibilities of their position; and
J. Attitude and Appearance – Courteous with all consumers, staff, and the public. Sensitive to the needs of the consumer without regard to their ethnic, age, racial, religious, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background. Work cooperatively with Agency staff and staff of coordinating agencies. Refrain from using abrasive, abusive, uncivil or insulting language. Wear clean appropriate attire for job function, and practice good hygiene as determined by the Agency;
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A. Maintaining weatherization vehicle and appropriate equipment and records;
B. Ability to analyze heating systems and write out proper retrofit measures to get systems to run within program guidelines;
C. Ability to use blower door technology and determine proper air-sealing measures to meet applicable program standards;
D. Ability to keep proper filing status on clients served through Weatherization Programs;
E. Ability to read client consumption history reports and educate clients to the issues relating to them concerning their use and what they can do to reduce consumption and high bills;
F. Do billings for utility programs;
G. Additional Duties – Ability to perform such other functions/activities which may be required of this position and assigned or reassigned from time to time;
H. Travel – Possession of current, valid, driver’s license and access to a reliable insured vehicle during working hours;
I. Ability to Acquire – Pennsylvania State Criminal History Background Check, Federal Criminal History Background Check, Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance Check;
J. Ability to attend occasional evening, out of area, and overnight activities that may be required; and
K. Follow Employee Handbook.
