GENERAL DEFINITION OF WORK:
Works with the Alternative Sanctions Program of the State’s Attorney’s Office and is responsible for the direct supervision of a work crew (8-10 persons) who are doing community service at various city and county locations. The Work Crew Supervisor reports to the Director of Alternative Sanctions and coordinates with the caseworkers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS:

- Organization of the specific tasks to be performed.
- Distribution and assignment of equipment needed to perform the tasks.
- Solving of job related problems.
- Evaluation of quality and quantity of work of each client.
- Recording and maintaining time worked for each assigned client.
- Reporting of successful closings, terminations, and problems to caseworkers.
- Assist in acquiring new work site venues.
- Driving of County-owned vehicle and trailer.
- Performs related tasks as required.
- Responsible for performing minor maintenance and repairs on equipment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to supervise personnel, work well with a wide variety of people, evaluate situations and make decisions. Strong time management and organization skills are required. Familiarity with the operation of small machinery (riding and push mowers, string trimmers, blowers) and some knowledge of construction trades. Experience with iOS operating system, Microsoft Software, Adobe, Internet is desirable, but not required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School Diploma or equivalent and experience in the supervision of personnel.
A comparable amount of training and experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have the use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various equipment, such as, but not limited to, mowers, string trimmers, blowers, etc. Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, and handling, pushing and pulling. Ability to lift 100 lbs. The worker may be subject to adverse environmental conditions.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid driver’s license (CDL or willingness to obtain one.) Must be willing to work a Wednesday-Sunday schedule, 7:30am-4pm every week.
