What are the responsibilities and job description for the Room Service position at Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club?
The Hotel is now seeking a Room Service attendant to join our Restaurant Team. This is a part time position, requiring the successful candidate to work 3-5 days per
week from 5:45am – 3pm.
Responsibilities: Provides quality guest service in the operations of room service tasks. Sets up and breaks down trays and cars for room service operation. Accurately prepares guest orders and checks. Assists in other areas of the Restaurant and Kitchen as needed.
Duties:
- Reports to work dressed in proper attire and on time following proper clock in/out procedure as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Answers guest telephones within a specified number of rings (3).
- Addresses guests by name when answering the telephone and thereafter.
- Records all ordered items on guest checks and uses proper computerized register in accordance with prescribed operating procedures.
- Sets up tables and trays to assigned specifications.
- Finishes off tables and trays with all of the appropriate supply and food and beverage items prior to guest room delivery.
- Delivers in a timely manner all required food and beverage items to guest rooms. Calls back each room for quality check and requests trays to be set outside of room.
- Maintains a polite and courteous telephone voice at all times.
- Maintains the proper guest scenario when entering/exiting guest rooms.
- Removes all soiled supplies to include tables, trays, china, glass, sliver, coffee thermoses, etc., from guest rooms and guest floors, & the appropriate breakdown in the dishwasher area.
- Requisitions supplies in accordance with prescribed specification.
- Makers par stock inventories.
- Delivers V.I.P. amenities to all guest rooms as required.
- Refers communications, guest feedback and any potential or real guest dissatisfaction to the Manager.
- Ensures cleanliness of area at all times
- Maintains compliance of all Corporate, hotel and room service standards, procedures, and specifications.
- Supports and participates in hotel recycling program.
- Other duties as assigned by the Restaurant Manager.

Physical Demands: Lifting 35 pounds maximum with frequent bending, lifting and/ or carrying of objects weighing up to 15 pounds. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
Math Skills: Requires mathematical development sufficient to be able to: Apply fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion.
Language Skills: Must have developed English language skills to the point to be able to: Communicate effectively (both written and orally) with other employees, guests, or vendors as needed. Must be able to read and comprehend written word.
Specific Vocational Preparation: An occupationally significant combination of: vocational education, apprentice training, in-plant training, on the job training, or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.
To do this job you must have the following licenses or certifications before being hired: High school diploma or equivalent required.
To do this job you must have the following amount of total education and/or experience: Prefer two years of restaurant wait or room service experience.
NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day and that holidays such as
Christmas, New Years, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July or any other holidays are normal working days. Business levels will determine the amount of hours you work. Understand that you may be asked to work in other departments in a related position as required. Management retains the discretion to add and/or change the duties of this position at any time.
