Head Start Assistant Teacher

Washington-Morgan Counties Community Action is seeking to hire a knowledgeable, and motivated individual for a full-time Assistant Teacher position in Washington County. The individual will:

-Assists teacher in creating a safe and healthy environment for children and parents thereby enhancing development, providing encouragement and facilitating the compliance with all Head Start Performance Standards.

-Organizes play areas that are well defined, organized and attractive placing all visual aides and materials at child's level while ensuring cleanliness and safety of all indoor and outdoor play spaces.

-Ensures that the classroom is safe and prepared for children the equipment is safe, in good condition, stored properly and that materials and equipment are rotated to promote durability.

-Observes children for communicable diseases and checks them for infections and infestations, and disinfects classroom and equipment upon exposure.

- Encourages children to assist with facility clean up and in maintaining a safe environment.

-Accompanies children to and from transportation and greets them as they arrive, as applicable.

-Assist teacher with all approved curriculum and activities including but not limited to lesson planning, observation and documentation. Assists teacher with meal service, tooth brushing and hand washing.

Education and/or Experience: Must have a minimum of a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or state awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements of a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associates or baccalaureate degree or, are enrolled in a CDA credential [program to be completed within two years of hire date. Two year or four year degree in any field, preferably in Early Childhood Education.

Starting pay: HS Diploma CDA$13.20 2YR. 15.12 4 YR. $ 17.10
