Washington Trust is seeking an analyst or portfolio manager to join its Private Clients Group (“PCG”).  This group provides individuals, families, business owners and entrepreneurs with customized solutions to manage a client’s credit and wealth relationship utilizing products and services across all business lines.  General responsibilities will be providing support for PCG relationships. The Credit Analyst / Portfolio Manager will be a key contributor to the overall relationship management plan for the client, helping them build and preserve wealth, by providing them with access to the credit and investment management resources to achieve their targeted goals.   Growth in this position involves increased technical proficiency in financial modeling and planning, as well as credit underwriting, monitoring and structuring.   Responsibilities include: Support the credit management process of underwriting, documenting and monitoring credit requests. Underwriting responsibilities would include financial, industry, collateral and risk analyses. Provide ongoing maintenance and management of the assigned client portfolio, including updating profiles with current financial information, collateral monitoring, covenant monitoring, tracking delinquencies, industry trends. Maintain timely renewals of loan maturities for the assigned portfolio and ensure timely completion of annual file updates and covenant testing. Be the primary liaison for the group to manage the Securities Based Loan portfolio in conjunction with other team members. Interact with clients, trust officer, credit and investment portfolio managers. Collect client information which may be used in the preparation of financial plans in conjunction with the assigned commercial/PCG team. Assure adherence to credit and investment management policies, guidelines and applicable regulatory compliance. Complete special projects, as identified and assigned. Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or equivalent in professional experience.  2 years of analytical experience in commercial lending or other analytical experience is preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, written communication, research and computer skills, attention to detail, and ability to creatively analyze various situations and distill data. Strong keyboard skills; intermediate level Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint skills, as well as general proficiency in other computer-based solutions. Detail oriented, exceptional organizational skills and the ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy. The ability to apply critical thinking and to creatively analyze various situations to distill data.
