Position Information:
Under general supervision, installs, repairs, and reconditions electrical, plumbing, and mechanical systems in County facilities; may provide some direction and training for maintenance support staff; and performs related work as required.
This is an Open Competitive/Countywide Promotional recruitment being conducted to fill a current full-time vacancy in the Community Services Department. The list established from this recruitment may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur.
The Facility Technician position will be assigned to a primary location, but will be required to rotate among various County facilities as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:
Three years of journey level experience performing skilled HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installation, maintenance, and repair work in a commercial, industrial, or institutional setting; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
This position may be required to perform facility maintenance duties at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office. To be eligible, top candidates will be required to undergo an in-depth, thorough, extensive and detailed background investigation. The employment start date will be contingent upon successful completion of this background investigation. Please read the Self Screening Checklist. As an applicant who would be required to work at the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office, the information found on the self-screening checklist will be used to determine your eligibility for employment.
License Or Certificate
- A valid driver’s license is required at time of appointment.
- Licensing or certification as required by specific assignment.

- Must be willing to perform maintenance duties in varying environments such as the Nevada Cares Campus Safe Camp, Washoe County Detention Facility, the Medical Examiner’s Office, Animal Services, Human Services Agency, etc.

- Will have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently.
- Will be self-motivated and responsive.
