Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Hours/Schedule: Variable hours, Monday through Saturday 8a.m –7p.m.
This position is identified as Work from Home eligible up to two ( 2) days per week, based on determination that essential duties can 1) be performed outside of the worksite, 2) be performed without access to equipment, material, and files located on campus, 3) be performed without face to face contact with supervisor, students or staff, and 4) be performed remotely with an overall neutral effect on students, co-workers, and the organization as a whole.
- Provide exceptional customer service to students and families both in person and remotely utilizing various technologies.
- Review and respond to email inquiries to the Financial Aid office regarding various of types of questions regarding student account information.
- Ensure all financial aid paper work is collected, checked in properly and processed in a timely manner.
- Evaluate the entire student financial aid file to confirm all student eligibility issues are resolved.
- Perform verification of student/parent FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) as mandated by the Department of Education. Evaluate the FAFSA to determine what data needs to be verified to complete the verification process and correct FAFSA data if it is reported incorrectly.
- Batch, import/extract, and analyze ISIR data to be transferred between WCC and the Department of Education. This includes knowing when a corrected file needs to be sent, what correction needs to be made, possessing the knowledge to identify successful data transmission and the ability to fix batch file errors.
- Under the direction of the Assistant Director, exercise professional judgment during the verification process to determine if additional information is needed to complete the verification process.
- Perform evaluation of the unusual enrollment pattern flags to determine student eligibility. This includes analyzing student enrollment records in the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS), evaluating transcripts from all colleges attended to determine if credit was earned, and communicating the outcome of the evaluation to the student.
- Analyze external web site data to determine if student financial aid eligibility is impacted by attendance at a prior college. These websites include Department of Education, loan servicing companies, National Student Loan Database System, etc.
- Monitor incomplete verification files. Advise students/parents on additional information needed to complete their financial aid file.
- Assist co-workers daily on verification issues that require resolution.
- Act as a main contact with student aid applicants regarding their financial aid applications and eligibility issues that may need to be resolved.

- Knowledge of WCC processes including admission, registration, financial services etc., in order to resolve complex student issues.
- Stay current on regulation changes set by the Department of Education that affect financial aid eligibility requirements.
- Stay current on knowledge of IRS annual tax filing requirements as it pertains to students and their families.
- Complete tasks necessary to process and administer all federal, state, institutional or outside aid programs.
- Instruct students individually, or in a group setting, on how to complete the FAFSA.

Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- High School Diploma or GED and six (6) years relevant work experience and 55 credit hours in related coursework or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Demonstrated ability in various computer applications and operating systems, which may include Microsoft Office, Google, Zoom, GoToMeeting, Teams, Chat software etc.
- Must exhibit extreme multi-tasking ability, as well as organizational skills. This includes working simultaneously on daily job duties, as well as being available to wait on students/parents at the counter and on phone calls throughout the day.
- Must have excellent interpersonal and written communication skills to assist with contributing input to improve efficiency in the financial aid process, and various community and college publics.
- Ability and willingness to implement policies and procedures as directed by the supervisor.
- Ability to understand and explain institutional policy and procedures to students, parents and staff.
- Ability to work in a high demand and stressful environment.
- Conflict resolution skills and experiences. Ability to appropriately handle confidential matters.
- Ability in English usage and spelling, basic math, data entry, proofreading, filing and telephone etiquette.
Preferred Qualifications:
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate Degree.
- One (1) year of Financial aid experience.
- Experience with Ellucian Banner software, Xtender, Campus Logic, and Excel.
