What is the opportunity?

Reporting to the Country Director Honduras, the Living Water Officer will provide strategic direction in the implementation of Water Mission's global evangelism and discipleship program strategy in Honduras, bearing witness to Christ and his kingdom through support and guidance in the spiritual formation activities of the staff and other entities involved with the ministry. This full-time position will work in Water Mission's San Juan Intibuca office. 


A successful Living Water Officer will: 

Leadership:

  • Be a model of servant leadership in the workplace.
  • Promote and fulfill the Mission and Vision of Misiones del Agua  Internacional  (MAI) through words, actions and initiatives.
  • Work with staff to foster an environment of honoring God as we share the gospel of Jesus Christ through words and deeds.
  • Work closely with the Coordinator of Agua Viva in planning the spiritual program and support its promotion, as well as teach if necessary.

Strategy and Implementation: 

  • Ensure that the Honduras program partners effectively in the field with the local churches.
  • Develop and recommend to the Living Water Coordinator tools and strategies for the spiritual development of staff in the country office.
  • Collect information necessary for the growth of the evangelism program and discipleship.
  • Recruit, train and organize spiritual leaders, communities and all entities that are required.
  • Communicate in a respectful and exemplary manner before MAI's internal and external relations.

Support to the ministry: 

  • Serve as a spokesperson for Water Missions International (MAI) as needed, representing the ministry to other organizations and the general public, in cooperation with other department leaders.
  • Liaise and coordinate with external resources to advise, review and evaluate field activities and content on sound practices, metrics, etc.
  • Participate in conferences, workshops, and related events to learn and contribute to solid practices in the field.

Additional responsibilities include: 

  • Support the Living Water Coordinator and Program Manager in the development of a strategy for the mobilization of the church and the community for spiritual and physical transformation.
  • Assist the CED in evaluating local churches (Christian congregations) of sound doctrine in the communities and assist in developing a strategy to mobilize stakeholders to play a key role in community programs.
  • Encourage and equip communities to experience a deeper faith and a transformed life.
  • Complete in due time a weekly work plan and a monthly report detailing the results of the living water activities reviewed and approved by your direct superior.
  • Ensure that all Misiones del Agua Internacional (MAI) quality standards are followed for all Agua Viva activities.
  • Perform field visits to support the evaluation of the spiritual area.
  • Prepare, coordinate and direct meetings, spiritual and devotional retreats with the staff, to share the word of God and cultivate the authentic Christian community among the staff.
  • Collaborate with strategic partners to learn and share experiences of integral mission projects and work with local churches.
  • Train and facilitate training sessions for pastors and church leaders.
  • Organize and implement other activities aimed at sharing the gospel in the communities, such as fellowship, outdoor crusade, film screening, prayers in communities, hospitals or schools.
  • Solve problems in the communities that threaten the success of the project.
  • Project reports, including taking photos, recording testimonials and monitoring the project.
  • Support the training of WASH trainers for communities and schools from a Christian worldview.
  • Coordinate staff fellowship as junior leader.
  • Provide advice and mobilize the necessary support for staff who are going through difficult times at work or at home.
  • Support communities in the creation of safe water committees and the management of water projects.
  • Take care of and be responsible for the tools and equipment assigned to you for your work.
  • Initiate partner relationships with other ministry partners to help equip and empower communities.
  • Realize waves of prayer in offices.
  • Coordinate the sharing of the gospel during the commission.
  • Include in reports the taking of photographs, the recording of testimonials, the water quality tests and the follow-up of projects and evaluations.
  • Support internal discipleship, fostering a Christian culture, with solid values that help spiritual, professional and intellectual growth.
  • Carry out continuous monitoring of support for the sustainability of projects.
  • Prepare quarterly reports, monthly reports, project specific reports, donor reports, and most significant stories relevant to the Evangelism and Discipleship program.
  • Ensure capacity building for staff, as well as for external stakeholders in Church and Community Mobilization, to strengthen their commitment to the integral mission.
  • Perform other binding tasks assigned by your immediate supervisor or the direction of Misiones del Agua Internacional (MAI).


    What is Required?

    • Personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ.
    • Alignment with Water Mission’s Statement of Faith and core values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity. 
    • A clear, God-given calling to the mission of Water Mission.
    • High school or university degree. Theology degree or courses in spiritual formation preferred. 
    • 1-2 years experience working as a Project Manager or in a relevant church management position.
    • 1-2 years experience and a high degree of discernment around the promotion, equipping, and ongoing encouragement of the practice of integral mission at the local church level.
    • Basic understanding of the English language.
    • Strong computer literacy; experience with Office 365 preferred. 
    • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
    • Exceptional time management and ability to problem solve under pressure.
    • Strong oral and written communication skills.
    • Commitment to the values and mission of the organization and ending the global water crisis.
    • Travel throughout Honduras to Water Mission programs. Travel may require riding in long car rides on rough terrain, standing for extended periods of time in hot weather, and lifting moderately heavy things. 
    • Legal authorization to work in Honduras without sponsorship.
