Job Posting for Performance Excellence Specialist at Waterbury Hospital
The Performance Excellence Specialist leads and directs process improvement activities that provide efficient and streamlined workflow in the hospital environment. Plans, develops, implements and evaluates performance improvement and evidence based care activities within the hospital Performance Improvement infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Leads and facilitates performance improvement initiatives using PDSA, Lean, Six Sigma and or other equivalent methodologies to improve quality, safety and coordination of care provided to patients at Waterbury Hospital.
These initiatives will include topics such as readmission reduction, Hospital Acquired Conditions reduction and or any other area of opportunity identified as an organizational priority.
Leads and facilitates Root Cause Analysis
Collaborates with the Performance Improvement outcomes coordinator and Infection Prevention Specialist, clinical leaders and frontline staff as needed to facilitate and achieve the goal of the initiatives.
Coordinates the organization's effort to collect, analyze and evaluate outcome data through internal and external mechanisms.
Provides expertise on the needs for efficient data collection and analysis and presentation of data used for reimbursement and comparison to other like facilities.
Provides education to staff and physicians concerning issues related to outcomes.
Uses critical thinking skills/activities to explore and develop initiatives designed to improve quality of care and patient safety.
Provides leadership and/or consultation to committees that impact process measures.
Performs all other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
Current Connecticut RN license.
Bachelor's Degree in business or health related field preferred. Graduate from accredited nursing program
Ability to understand and interpret the organization's mission, policies, procedures, and services.
Experience in an acute care hospital setting.
Preferred two years of experience in performance improvement
Demonstrated leadership skills
Ability to work throughout the organization with individuals in diverse areas and levels of responsibility.
Participation in community, state and professional organizations related to quality management and improvement
Computer proficient including internet use and management of multiple databases.
Ability to work independently.
Excellent communication skills
Strong analytical problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of hospital operations.
Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
