What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Crew Chief position at WATERWAY?
Waterway is looking for a driven and reliable individual who wants to be part of a team that makes communities and firefighters safe through testing their hose, ground ladders, nozzles, and more. Operating in an 8–10-person team, we travel across NYS and sometimes beyond to test equipment on site. The Assistant Crew Chief must be able to step in and run the crew in the absence of the Crew Chief.
Job Type: Seasonal- Full Time. Travel required. (April-November)
Worksite: Outdoors. A new location each day.
Pay: Pay is based upon experience. Starting at $20/hour up to $25/hr. Raises based on time served and performance.
Requirements:
-High School Diploma
-Previous Supervisory Experience
-Ability to pass a DOT drug screen (including cannabis)
-Available Monday through Friday between 5am and 10pm
-Be comfortable with basic mobile technology (email, Dropbox, photos, scanning)
Job Duties:
-Drive a DOT registered vehicle to and from jobs
-Lead a crew of 8-10 in daily tasks
-Daily set-up/tear down of equipment at test site
-Work on and around fire trucks
-Testing and inspecting fire hose
-Unloading and reloading hose on fire trucks
-Test ground ladders and other equipment
-Focus on working at an efficient pace
Fire department experience is preferred though not required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
