Nutrition Assistant II

WHCC is deemed by the Bureau of Primary Health Care of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to be a federal employee for purposes of medical malpractice claims and, as such, qualified for protection under the Federal Tort Claims Act.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Teach monthly nutrition health education and breastfeeding classes.
• Perform basic or routine (low-to-moderate) individual nutrition education intervention according to clients' nutritional needs.
• Record summary of pertinent nutritional information using standardized format on the Integrated Statewide Information System (ISIS).
• Enroll, disqualify, and certify WIC eligibility for participants on therapy program via the ISIS system.
• Provide income, residence, nutrition and category screenings.
• Participate in outreach activities, as assigned.
• This job requires that you are willing and able to work Saturday schedule and late hours if needed. The job requires flexibility to move from one WIC site to another as well as other locations as needed.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Two (2) or more college courses in basic nutrition, food service dietetic and/or health.
• Must be a certified WIC Nutrition Assistant.
• One (1) year as a Nutrition Assistant I or equivalent health related experience.
• Fully fluent in English and Spanish; preferred.
