1st shift- 6am to 2:30pm This role is accountable for effectively managing 1st shift personnel and executing the production plan established and communicated by site management, in order to satisfy customer requirements in a high-volume manufacturing facility. This role will support the Continuous Improvement (CI) process and will have responsibility for fostering an atmosphere of safety, quality, teamwork, delivery and associate engagement. PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Confer with management to establish and direct production and quality control standards while maintaining efficient utilization of labor, machines, and equipment. Review production and operating reports and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including: Process Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, peers and management to analyze and resolve major process and quality issues, and to ensure minimum cost and operational delays. Provide leadership required to develop a culture focused on safety, quality, continuous improvement, teamwork, and customer satisfaction. Use internal and external voice-of-customer (VOC) to analyze/improve process and apply root cause problem solving methods to all functions Support plant layout, facility planning, and other assigned projects. Provide input/feedback on various areas to drive business improvements, such as AOP development, capital plan, manufacturing process improvements, etc. Manage associate responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsible for: interviewing, training and assimilating new associates; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining associates; addressing associate complaints and resolving issues. Key focus areas include the elimination of work-related injuries, elimination of plant-controllable customer complaints, and achievement of operational efficiency goals through process improvement, improved utilization of resources, waste reduction and associate morale. Uphold all company policies and procedures. Respond to associate concerns accordingly and work with subordinates and human resources to discuss and eliminate potential problems. Perform other duties as may be assigned. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIRED SKILLS: Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years related experience or equivalent education and experience. Demonstrated knowledge and experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing. Six Sigma or Green Belt a plus. Working knowledge of manufacturing operating system and experience utilizing Microsoft Office. Strong supervisory, leadership and communication skills. *PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must lift and/or move up to 35 pounds alone, 80 lbs. with assistance.
