Our district supports each Dual Language Teacher with effective Bilingual Literacy and Math Coaches, dedicated to teacher development. All Dual Language Teachers are supported to onboard with the school district and the department through mentorship in the first three years by a skilled Dual Language Colleague. We are fabulously known for growing professional teachers. If you are not yet fully certified, but hold a bachelor's degree, have an unwavering belief in the assets of multilingual children, and speak Spanish at the advanced level, we'd love to meet you.
The School District of Waukesha maintains a rich culture of bilingual education through the Dual Language Program. The middle school program is a 50:50 program, a continuation of the elementary 90:10 program. As a 50:50 program bilingual teachers work together to teach two groups of students per grade level in the areas of Spanish/English Literacy and Social Studies, with a partner teacher teaching Math and Science/Ciencias.
We are proud to offer excellent curricular resources in Spanish and English for each of the content areas - this supports you with seamless and connected planning with your grade level team.
We offer student teacher ratios of 1:24, full time bilingual instructional coaching to support you and your students, and excellent ongoing professional learning. We are known for highly collaborative cultures, and student centered environments where engagement is high and the opportunity to teach accomplished. The schools wrap around each student such that additional supports for intervention in literacy, language, math and behavior support each and every student to success.
