What are the responsibilities and job description for the Behavioral Health Therapist position at Waupaca County?
As a function of the Waupaca County Department of Human Services, the Clinical Social Worker/Therapist (CSWT) provides trauma-informed mental health counseling services to individuals and/or families. Experience and licensure of the CSWT determines the services provided to children, youth, and adults.
The Clinical Social Worker/Therapist performs initial assessments, determines diagnosis, and works with the client to develop an appropriate treatment plan.
This position works under the direct supervision of the Behavioral Health Manager of Outpatient Treatment Services .
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Conducts admission interviews and performs psychotherapy evaluations to assess needs, explore issues, and build trust.
Develops measurable and achievable treatment plan goals, based on the client’s needs and diagnosis.
Uses a variety of interventions including but not limited to Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, utilization of family systems theory, etc. while administering these interventions both individually and within a family context.
Attends staff meetings, clinical supervision, client team meetings, and trainings as directed.
Serves as a consultant to staff on matters of mental health.
PERIPHERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides consultation services to groups; teaches workshops; makes speeches; presents information to community based work organizations.
Serve in a backup/emergency capacity when additional support is needed for the crisis team. This includes providing emergency and intervention services during the day, evenings, and weekends via the on-call system, which includes face-to-face sessions and phone calls involving life and death matters.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Behavioral Health Unit ManagerEDUCATION: Master’s Degree in social work or related field AND possess a Wisconsin license in Clinical Social Work, Professional Counseling or Marriage and Family Therapy.
Certification in Substance Abuse is preferred, but not required.
Working knowledge of the impact of trauma on brain development, resiliency, and lifespan wellbeing.
Basic knowledge of services for individuals struggling with mental health or alcohol and other drugs.
Have an understanding of state chapter 51 and common state programs available to clients.
Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records.
Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to maintain agency confidentiality.
Must have available transportation to perform on-site responsibilities.
