Melt Lab
3rd shift (10pm-6am)
$2.00 per hour shift premium is also paid for 3rd shift hours worked.
ROLE:
This is an entry position for new hires joining the company. Individuals hired as a Melt Lab Tech will train and acquire the necessary skills and work pace to advance to a department specific job classification. The position often requires weekend work and/or mandatory overtime. All assignments are considered to be heavy industrial, and are repetitive in nature.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Understand and abide by all Company safety rules, regulations, and policies.
- Perform chemical analysis of iron through spectroscopy
- Perform mechanical testing of the iron as required – hardness, wedge strength
- Perform a wide variety of sand tests on molding sand
- Maintain the metallurgical and process control parameters.
- Work with the production personnel to ensure the integrity of the metal and sand quality.
- Initiate and maintain metallurgical reports.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- High attention to detail is a must.
- Good computer skills – with a focus on Microsoft Office suite to include Outlook and Excel.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent ability to work well with others.
- Excellent attendance record and the flexibility to work overtime if needed.
