What are the responsibilities and job description for the Grinding and Polishing - 3rd Shift Production Associate position at Wausau Tile?
GENERAL: We are looking for a hardworking, energetic, quality and safety-minded person to work in the above referenced position. This person must be able to work well with others and individually, and with little or no supervision. Interested candidate(s) must be able to read and understand a variety production paperwork including schedules, and other production paperwork, use of measuring equipment and hand tools, be mechanically inclined and able to operate equipment/machinery as necessary. BRIEFDESCRIPTION:
Employee sets up, adjusts and runs/operates a variety of production equipment and hand tools to produce a variety of concrete and epoxy precast terrazzo products, primarily stair tread and risers. Employee will perform Grinding & Polishing. Employee is typically assigned to this specialized area of the department (Hand Polishing/Grinding) but may be assigned to assist in other areas of the department or other work areas as needed.
SPECIFIC TASKS:
Grinding - Employee uses a hand-held electric powered grinder with an abrasive grinding pad to rough-grind product through a series of grinding stages. Once Grinding is complete, product is staged for a separate task/process (Concrete-Grouting or Epoxy Cab-o-Siling).
Polishing - Using a crane and similar procedures as identified in the Grinding step, previously ground and grouted/cab-o-siled product is placed on to the workstation. After a brief set-up and adjustment period, Employee begins Polishing product using a held pneumatic powered polisher with an abrasive polishing pads. Polishing follows a specialized technique of continuous passes with finer grit polishing pads.
Inspection - Once the Polishing process is complete, the work piece is wiped down/blown off and inspected for quality and completeness. Various measuring equipment is used during this process to verify quality.
Staging - Once the Polishing process is complete, employee uses material handling techniques previously identified, and places product back on to pallets or movable carts and then takes product to a staging area until later processed by the Finishing area.
Physical Requirements:
Includes but is not limited to, prolonged periods of standing, working on a computer, bending, reaching, stretching, lifting, walking, twisting, squattingand kneeling. Adjusting or moving objects up to 50 pounds in all directions. Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers, knees, back shoulders and neck. Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, and the like.

*Shift differential of $1.50 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shift positions.
