Job Description:
Software Engineer supporting the Mission Equipment Division (MED), Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) within Aviation and Missile Center, Redstone Arsenal. Support the Software Team with the airworthiness review of software life cycle data types for new software functionality, modified/upgraded legacy software functionality, Commercial off the Shelf (COTS) software, and reusable software components/systems, as an integrated part of a target Army aviation platform. Platforms include all fixed and rotary wing aircraft of the US Army and some foreign military sales.
Required Education and Experience:
- Masters of Science 16 years’ experience, or Bachelor Degree of Science 20 years’ experience
- Knowledgeable of RTCA DO-178B/C, SAE ARP4754 and SAE ARP4761. Additional knowledge of any military standards and requirements such as AR 70-62, MIL-STD-882 and/or Data Item Descriptions (DIDs) is a plus. Additional knowledge of software reuse standards and guidance such as Future Airborne Capabilities Environment (FACE) Technical Standard and/or AC 20-148 Reusable Software Components is a plus.
- Requisite experience to support review of software life cycle data to ensure proper requirements, requirements traceability, design, integration, and test compliant with airworthiness requirements.
- Familiar with airworthiness safety analyses such as Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Mode Effect and Criticality Analysis, Preliminary System Safety Analysis, etc.
Required Skills:
- Proficiency in standard business software packages, specifically Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
- Candidates must have the ability to work independently.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas and plans easily to senior leaders
- Familiarity with Army airworthiness Task Tracking System (TTS) highly desired
