What are the responsibilities and job description for the Corporate Driver Trainer position at Wayne Farms?
PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Corporate Driver Trainer maintains and coordinates a safe driving program based on the regulations established by the Department of Transportation. RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: Verifies the driving skills of driver applicants and ensures skills and experience aligns with job requirement Trains new drivers in vehicle handling, break down and emergency procedures, required paper work, handling of cargo, use of special equipment, where applicable, and general company policies, rules and procedures Re-trains in-service drivers whose performance has not met satisfactory training requirements Trains in-service drivers in new assignments and in the proper use of new equipment Maintains a high level of performance on the part of all drivers under their jurisdiction Investigates, checks and reports on routes, equipment, schedules and other conditions facing the driver Maintains close contact with the maintenance departments and serves as the liaison between the driver and the shop Provides in-route commentary to driver trainees in conjunction with observing their performance and providing on the spot training/corrective techniques when necessary Prepares and presents quarterly training reports to Fleet Management Conducts training in proper cargo handling and claims prevention Conducts personal safety training Collaborates with the Fleet Manager in scheduling work flow and training assignments Performs all other duties as assigned by management SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES: None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent and related experience EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS: Minimum two years of on-the-job DOT driving experience required, 5 years of experience is preferred Knowledge of DOT regulations Prior training experience in the capacity of DOT regulations Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organization in a timely and professional manner; multi-lingual strongly preferred Ability to handle and resolve problems in an efficient and effective manner Must possess strong interpersonal skills and a customer-centric attitude Ability to effectively schedule and coordinate activities and identify training improvement opportunities Organization/planning skills and experience juggling multiple assignments SAFETY REQUIREMENTS: Must have a valid Class A driver’s license in accordance to local state laws and age requirements Must be able to work safely and efficiently while donned in required PPE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to work extended shifts (holiday, weekend and/or extended) according to business needs Ability to safely work in an environment varying in temperature and weather conditions as required Must be able to lift at least 10lbs or more while utilizing proper lifting techniques Must be able to sit for extended periods of time Must have the ability to utilize standard Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to: Outlook, Teams, Excel, and PowerPoint We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
