Nature of Work
Directs and oversees a wide variety of programs that serve a diverse student population. Directs and coordinates personal services and programs related to student development and academic success efforts. Serves as an advocate for students, and shares information with students, colleagues, and other interested parties that promote student success, retention, and graduation. Works in close collaboration with Academic Affairs. Oversees Residence Life and Campus Security programs, policies and services.

Examples of Work Performed
  • Oversee strategic direction for Campus Security and Residence Life departments.
  • Provide supervision to Campus Security Manager and Director of Residence Life.
  • Responsible for overall budgets for Dean of Students, Campus Security and Residence Life.
  • Provide oversight to campus crisis/emergency planning and response team.
  • Coordinate enforcement of the College conduct code, ensuring compliance with community standards, campus policies, and state and federal law.
  • Provide due process, administrative management and response coordination for student behavior on and off campus.
  • Train, advise, and educate students, faculty, administrators and the larger college community with regard to judicial procedures, student rights and responsibilities and community standards.
  • Infuse an educational approach to the judicial model to ensure all participants will learn from the process.
  • Responsible for college compliance with additional federal and state regulations, such as but not limited to, the Clery Act and the Violence Against Women Act.
  • Serve as Retention Specialist to assist students with withdrawal process from classes and the College.
  • Develop and implement co-curricular assessment for departments in Student Affairs.
  • Provide guidance to students struggling academically, personally, and financially to develop a plan for the student’s success.
  • Develop key collaborative relationships with campus administrative areas, faculty, and campus and community leaders to enhance planning and implementing strategic initiatives, resolving issues, and responding to crisis incidents.
  • Assist with student learning and retention initiatives.
  • Manage parent engagement portal (CampusESP), Skyfactor Assessments, iClicker Insights Surveys, and Campus Kaiizen Guardian software platforms.
  • Participate in special project initiatives and serve on committees assigned by Vice President for Student Affairs.
  • Serve on the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT)
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Leadership experience in higher education.
  • Knowledge of current state and federal law and regulations, institution-specific policies, practices and procedures.
  • Three years of professional Student Affairs experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in campus safety and security or emergency management and planning.
  • Ability to design, deliver and assess training and education programs to all constituencies of the campus.
  • Direct supervisory experience in Residence Life.
  • Ability to recommend and/or effect changes to policies, to revise practices and to implement equitable procedures across many departments, including human resources, athletics, academic affairs, and student affairs/student conduct/discipline.

Salary Information
Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Attractive and comprehensive fringe benefit package. Annual salary range is $80,000-$95,000.
