Essential functions (job duties):

Job Purpose
 
The director will Lead and manage the IT supports for all Academic Applications.   The director will be responsible for overseeing the technical support, ensuring the smooth operation of IT systems, providing great customer service to our internal customers including students, faculty and driving technology innovation to help improve efficiency and productivity. The candidate will have a strong teaching/educational background, technical background and excellent leadership and communication skills.  Reports to Sr Director of Enterprise Applications. 
 
Essential Functions

IT Support Operations for Academic Focused Applications such as STARS. ASTRO, Canvas, Slate, etc. 
 
Develop and implement support processes and procedures to ensure efficient and effective resolution of issues reported by both customers and systems. 
Establish and maintain service level agreement (SLAs) to meet the needs of internal customers.
Monitor and evaluate system metrics to identify areas for improvement and drive continuous service/functionality improvement initiatives. 
Coordinate with other IT teams to ensure seamless integration and collaboration in delivering overall IT services. 
 
Leadership and Team Management
 
Manage and oversee the team performance including team member’s cross training, mentoring, conducting performance evaluations. Perform team capacity planning. 
Set team goals and objectives, ensure they align with the C&IT and the University’s overall IT strategy. 
Provide strategic direction and leadership to the team, fostering a positive work environment. 
Provide growth plan for team members and promoting professional development. 
 
Customer Service and stakeholder management
 
Build and maintain strong and harmony relationship with customers and internal stakeholders, understanding their needs, situations and provide appropriate solutions and support.
Communicate effectively with all levels and all teams among C&IT and the University to provide updates, gather feedback, address concerns and start collaboration. 
Build and maintain effective communication channel and method to provide updates to leadership in C&IT. 
 
Drive technical innovations 
 
Stay updated on the latest technology trends, best practices, standards related to Higher Ed institutions. 
Provide technical guidance and strategy to improve efficiency and productivity to improve teaching and learning experience. 
Collaborate between Customer teams and other IT teams to implement and maintain IT infrastructure, system and application integrations and changes which support the overall C&IT operations.
 
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Accountability: Supervises professionals and non-managers
 
Organizational Accountability: Manages sub-unit of a department
 
Customer Accountability: Interfaces with customers inside the S/C/D
 
Freedom to Act: Subject to general input from supervisor
 

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 
Education   
 
Bachelor's degree
 
Experience   
 
Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience)
 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
 
Proven experience in a leadership role within IT organization or related field.
 
Strong technical background with knowledge of various IT systems, software used by higher ED Institutions. 
 
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
 
Experienced in managing Slate, Banner and other ERP applications.
 
Familiar and experienced in LMS tools such as Canvas, Instruction etc. supporting.
 
Familiar with SDLC and experienced in managing application development. 
 
Experienced in managing IT operation supports, incident management and problem resolutions.
 
Experienced in leading IT projects. 
 
Strong data analysis ability and problem-solving ability. 
 
Relevant certifications/degrees are a plus.
