Building Monitor
Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Building Monitor at its Detroit campus location.

Essential Functions
The monitor provides an extra sense of security to an assigned area on campus, through checking (watching)people entering WSU buildings during normal business hours.
Monitors will usually be in a uniform identifying them as a part of the Wayne State Police department (but non-sworn).
Monitors assist in keeping the normal flow of business by directing and assisting, students, staff, and visitors. They are essential in keeping disruptive persons out and non-WSU personnel away from the buildings.
Monitors are equipped with a police radio to call police personnel to assist with escorting disruptive individuals.
Monitors are staged just inside of building entrances (at a station, which also contains a telephone). Monitors may also have extra information at hand about the staff / offices belonging in that building.

Due to the nature of the position, many monitors are usually retired police personnel or possess an extensive background in private security.
