  • Bi-lingual in Spanish - A MUST!
  • A BSN or equivalent degree in a medical field is helpful
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Work experience as a patient advocate or similar role
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and healthcare regulations
  • Superb verbal and written communication skills
  • Technology skills and proficiency in “Excel.”
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to multitask
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Compassionate and empathetic approach to patient care
  • Certification as a Florida Eligibility and Referral Specialist - Helpful

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Doing all possible to ensure patient well-being is the highest priority.
  • Interface with all patients and their families with compassion and respect.
  • Serve as a liaison between patients and healthcare providers.
  • Maintain effective communication with all primary care providers (PCPs).
  • Assess patient financial eligibility for We Care services promptly.
  • Scheduling patient appointments with We Care volunteer medical specialists.
  • Ensure all required paperwork is completed and sent to specialists.
  • Follow up on patient care to ensure all medical notes and information are delivered to the appropriate PCP.
  • Arranging clinics with appropriate specialists in areas where services may be backlogged,
  • Consult with patients to discuss their health problems and help them to understand their condition and medication better.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with all colleagues,
  • Submit bi-weekly patient data reports listing appropriate patient data to the We Care Foundation Executive Director.
  • Other duties as assigned

This position requires a dedicated individual passionate about advocating for patients' needs. The Patient Advocate will ensure that patients receive the appropriate care and support throughout their healthcare journey.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 25 per week
