Description
The Director of Operations leads site Plant Managers and Operations Team members, managing the creation and implementation of operational strategies (Safety, Quality, Production, Logistics, Materials and Manufacturing Engineering) aligned to the company’s strategy for multiple sites.
Responsibilities:
Drive continuous improvement processes by utilizing World Class / Lean Manufacturing techniques to improve productivity while reducing costs in manufacturing / assembly areas.
Coach, lead and develop site operations leader(s) and their staffs to identify, understand and implement lean manufacturing best practices to achieve World Class levels of performance.
Identify and realize cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities, as well as advanced process improvements, for both fixed and variable costs
Effective decision making related to the utilization of resources, management of investment plans (CAPEX) and optimization of manufacturing footprint to achieve business objectives.
Maintain and nurture effective working relationships / communications with key support functions including Engineering, Finance, Sales, Supply Chain and Unions (as applicable) to improve operations and ensure effective support of the manufacturing processes in order to achieve business objectives.
Develop world-class operational standards for measuring and communicating visual metrics related to Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, etc.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Academic Degree is required, with an emphasis on Operations, Business Management or Engineering; Master’s Degree preferred
Minimum of 10 years of proven success in managing plant operations in a world-class manufacturing organization
Provide leadership in safety and foster a strong safety culture and safe working environment, ensure compliance with the company's EH&S programs, and proactively address safety issues. Ensure true root-cause analysis and follow through on corrective actions.
Knowledge of Assembly Processes, Cell Manufacturing, Logistics & Warehousing, Quality Management Systems, Continuous Improvement and Cost Savings.
Expertise in lean leadership and hands-on implementation of lean techniques with proven results in a manufacturing environment.
Business acumen to develop effective business strategies, and successfully addresses people/organizational issues/opportunities to improve organizational performance.
Demonstrated skill of building processes and teams in an environment that nurtures and embraces innovation.
Excellent communication and facilitation skills - both oral and written. Ability to effectively connect telephonically, electronically and face-to-face with varying audiences.
Contribute to the development of the business strategy and plan by prioritizing operational value levels and defining cost management objectives – cost improvement and cost containment.
Drive quality systems and processes to support continuous improvement and compliance with quality system requirements; ensure appropriate training, process support, and compliance, to achieve the quality objectives.
Develop benchmarks and metrics including a standard scorecard to set baseline standards, and review for improvement opportunities.
Create budget proposals, recommending budget changes, as needed
Understand competitive trends in key geographic markets for manufacturing technologies and to ensure the best competitive solutions.
