WPS Manager

Webasto Roof Systems, Inc. seeks a WPS Manager in Auburn Hills, Michigan. Domestic travel 20%. Duties: Develop, define and implement global operational KPIs and KPI Performance Management Systems; manage, coordinate and implement the successful operation of the Webasto Production System (WPS) using Lean Six Sigma Process Steps; drive cost optimization and conduct benchmarking in the area of Operations across all business units and regions; coordinate 5S activity within the facility through workshops, coaching, audits, and education, and lead continuous improvement and workshop activities; audit operations facility and operations for 5S sustainment and WPS implementation, and train and mentor WPS Coordinators on operation waste and elimination, cost reduction and improvements for process quality in each plant; develop standardized work processes for Webasto employees that supports lean initiatives using standard time measurement data and actual recorded data to reduce waste; and develop logistic plans to support existing and future business programs following a just-in-time, level ordering, and one-piece-flow philosophies. Minimum education required: Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering or equivalent foreign degree. Minimum experience required: 3 years of experience in a Senior Engineer, Senior Manufacturing or Senior Industrial Engineering position. Special skills required Must have 3 years of work experience with each of the following: evaluating manufacturing processes based on efficiency and takt time; proposing line balancing to reduce manpower requirements and optimize layouts, production lines and material delivery to line in order to reduce non-value added activities and increase profitability; using AUTOCAD to design optimal plant layouts and material flow layouts considering FIFO, one piece flow and efficient use of manpower to reduce non-value added movement; defining, training, monitoring proposing corrective actions to achieve operational KPIs including overhead structure, overhead ratio, direct labor-cost ratio, freight cost ratio, inventory turn ratios and cost savings targets.
