Job Summary/Basic Function
The Swim Instructor is responsible for teaching group, private and semi-private swimming lessons to students, faculty, staff, and community members using the American Red Cross Swimming and Water Safety program materials. The instructor is responsible for ensuring the safety of participants utilizing the pool and facility around the pool, teaching their students to Red Cross standards, and communicating effectively with participants and the Aquatics and Safety Coordinator to schedule and complete lessons.

This position is 50/50 eligible, student must be enrolled full-time and have at least a 2.0 GPA in order to qualify.

Required Qualifications
Proof of current American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certification or similar nationally recognized certification, current American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer with Basic First Aid

Must possess excellent interpersonal communication, teamwork, and customer service skills

Preferred Qualifications
American Red Cross Life guarding Certification, previous experience teaching private swim lessons

**This is a pooled position. Applicants are selected from the pool as positions become available. After a period of time, the pool will expire and applicants will be notified.

Physical Requirements of this position
