Job Summary/Basic Function:
Weber State University invites applications for the position of Development Director (specific job grade will depend on the applicant's qualifications) with the College of Science, and the Stewart Library. Successful applicants will have a portfolio consisting of some combination of the above areas.

Reporting to the Executive Director of Development, the Development Director will work closely with college/division leadership to enhance and support their fundraising efforts. They are responsible for the identification, qualification, cultivation, and solicitation of individual prospects capable of gifts in excess of $35,000. All Development staff, including any new hires, are expected to work as a team to forward Big W' objectives and goals while also having primary responsibility for major gift fundraising within their assigned college/division including arranging visits with individuals, corporations, foundations and the preparation of private funding proposals. This position is specifically responsible for expanding their assigned college/division donor base by forging new relationships with potential major gift donors. They are responsible for generating and tracking progress on a portfolio of 80-100 major gift prospects and soliciting them for gifts and pledges. The Director of Development actively engages prospects in the portfolio and schedule approximately 130-150 meaningful contacts annually or approximately 12 significant contacts per month including 2-4 qualifying contacts.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience in private fundraising, marketing, sales, communication, psychology, business management, education, or a related field.
One year of experience in fundraising, marketing, sales, communications, business management, customer relations, or a related field.
Strong technology skills including word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, databases, and internet.

Preferred Qualifications:
An understanding of, commitment to, and ability to articulate the value of higher education both conceptually and as it relates to the local region. Previous experience working both independently and as part of a team identifying and cultivating prospective donors and soliciting philanthropic support; including planned giving opportunities. History of interacting positively with diverse constituencies - both internal and external to an organization. Demonstrated ability to listen effectively and to speak and write clearly. Experience with and ability to manage multiple priorities and requests. Experience working in a college, university, or non-profit setting. Ability to perform well under pressure in an environment that sets and fulfills goals. Ability to accurately and comprehensively document donor/prospect interaction. Track record of displaying integrity and the ability to keep confidences regarding personal information. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work under deadlines. Strong oral communication, listening, and writing skills. Excellent interpersonal skills that facilitate the identification and nurturing of donor relationships.

The annual salary for this position starts at $55,000.00 and may go up from there depending on the candidates qualifications. The position comes with a generous benefits package.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision: Required to perform activities such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; using a computer terminal; extensive reading.
