About the role:
The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing staff and managing work product within the accounting department, ensuring the department creates accurate and timely financial records for the organization.
What you'll do:- Record journal entries, reconcile and review general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring the underlying support is appropriate
- Understand the purpose of general ledger accounts and the nature of transactions and direct staff in investigating, resolving and reconciling items
- Prepare journal entries and review staff journal entries to account for business activities, ensuring completeness, accuracy and compliance with general accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Perform analytical review of account balances and activities and provide explanations for fluctuations
- Understand and ensure processes are in compliance with internal controls and business processes, implement improvements as needed
- Communicate effectively internally and externally
- Oversee, mentor and empower staff, providing guidance and assistance
- Participate in special projects as deemed necessary
What you'll need:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related field
- Six years of accounting experience
- Management experience leading a team of accounting professionals
- CPA designation preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP
- Strong understanding of internal controls and business processes
- Strong and effective communication
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Experience in implementing best practices and process improvement
- Ability to work independently, self-directed
- Organized and Detail oriented
- Strong Collaboration Skills
- High level of ethics and integrity
