JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Under direct supervision of the registered nurse provides direct patient care to assigned patients.
Education
Knowledge of nursing theory and practice acquired through an accredited school of nursing.
Experience
One year experience preferred
Skills
Performs within limits of State Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, MedicalCenter policies and procedures.
Interpersonal skills required in order to instruct and comfort patients and their families and maintain effective contacts with a variety of MedicalCenter personnel.
Demonstrates knowledge of and compliance with MedicalCenter policies and procedures.
Licensures, Certifications
Current registration with the Maryland State Board of Examiners of Nurses as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Healthcare Provider (CPR Certification).
Physical Requirements
Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to eighty percent of work time and performing and planning professional nursing care resolving complex patient care problems and dealing with patients and their families often during stressful situations.
Ability to stand and walk almost constantly (up to 80% of work time) and occasionally (up to 20% of work time) lift and position patients
Working Conditions
Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperature.
Frequently (up to 50% of work time) exposed to adverse working conditions due to performance of certain patient care activities. Exposure to communicable disease.
