Operations Generalist

Reports to: Field Operations Supervisor
Supervises: None
This position will be required to perform all duties within the operation.
POSITION SUMMARY – Crop and Field Operator
Responsible for daily farm operations including but not limited to driving farm equipment, maintenance support of farm equipment, maintaining the appearance of the farm, and assisting the Operations Supervisor in achieving farm goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Crop and Field Operator
1. Efficiently and safely perform all crop and field tasks assigned by supervisor.
2. Utilize farm equipment to perform daily tasks including but not limited to conventional tillage, row-crop tillage, grain cart operation, mowing, spraying, planting, and operating other equipment as needed.
3. Communicate daily with Operations Supervisor on scheduling and logistics.
4. Maintain equipment including daily preventative and repair maintenance.
5. Communicate and coordinate with Equipment Maintenance Technician for large repairs.
6. Utilize technology hardware for efficient task completion and accurate data collection.
7. Maintain the appearance of the farm and landowner properties, as assigned.
8. Conduct and document pre and post equipment use inspections and complete associated record keeping.
9. Assist with all record keeping and report filing.
10. Maintain sufficient shop inventory and communicate inventory needs with supervisor.
11. Provide input into improvements for greater efficiency within the operations team.
POSITION SUMMARY – Sprayer
Responsible for mixing product(s) to be sprayed and completing the task of spraying, safely and efficiently.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Sprayer
1. Obtain and maintain all required applicator certifications.
2. Obtain and follow the scheduled list of product(s) to be sprayed on specific fields.
3. Perform pre-operating check of sprayer and all application equipment.
4. Utilize all equipment technology to effectively apply chemicals, fertilizers, and manure.
5. Efficiently and effectively operate sprayer in the field.
6. Transport equipment as requested.
7. Clean sprayer and all equipment as needed.
8. Follow all SOP’s and safety guidelines.
9. Communicate with supervisor regarding equipment repairs and technology needs.
10. Complete and submit all required paperwork.
POSITION SUMMARY – Equipment Maintenance
Responsible for all aspects of care for the farm machinery and equipment, which includes both scheduled and preventative maintenance. This position is to ensure all equipment has been properly cleaned and checked for problems/repair prior to spring and fall work. This position will maintain appropriate maintenance logs for all equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Equipment Maintenance
1. Conduct all preventative maintenance and daily inspections.
2. Follow a pre-season inspection schedule and complete annual maintenance. Inspect equipment for mechanical, structural, and normal wear items.
3. Implement and follow appropriate SOP’s.
4. Ensure all equipment is ready for daily use including but not limited to fueling of equipment.
5. Ensure parts inventory is maintained and recorded.
6. Repair of all equipment, as needed.
7. Clean all equipment at the end of each season.
8. Maintain all necessary report logs.
9. Report all major equipment repairs and needs to supervisor.
10. Maintain clean and organized the shop.
11. Follow all safety guidelines.
12. Special projects as assigned by supervisor.
POSITION SUMMARY – Irrigation
Responsible for operation, maintenance, and servicing of irrigation engines and equipment in a safe, efficient, and effective manner.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Irrigation
1. Conduct and monitor regular maintenance.
2. Complete all required recordkeeping.
3. Coordinate irrigation schedule and specifications with Field Operations Supervisor.
4. Recommend and implement approved irrigation plans.
5. Assist with irrigation projects.
6. Problem solve around irrigation issues with Field Operations Supervisor.
7. Provide annual maintenance and tests.
8. Communicate with Irrigation Supervisor on cut on and cut off dates.
9. Efficiently repair all breakdowns.
10. Complete needed reports.
11. Order parts and contact service resources, as instructed.
12. Implement and update SOP’s.
13. Operate all equipment and repairs in a safe manner.
14. Ensure irrigation equipment is clean and operational, as needed.
POSITION SUMMARY – Truck Driver
Responsible for hauling grain, seed, fertilizer, and other supplies, as well as any daily delivery needs.
Drivers are expected to operate according to DOT guidelines, take all safety precautions and conduct themselves in a professional manner. Truck drivers are also responsible for all aspects of care for equipment which includes both schedules and preventative maintenance. This role will also maintain appropriate maintenance logs for all equipment
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS – Truck Driver
1. Obtain and maintain Class A Interstate CDL and medical card.
2. Pass a pre-employment drug screening and additional random quarterly testing
3. Follow all safety guidelines.
4. Communicate frequently with supervisor regarding logistics.
5. Perform pre-trip vehicle inspection including fueling of equipment as well as all related documentation and logs.
6. Perform daily inspections, preventative maintenance and minor repairs.
7. Report major repairs to supervisor
8. Transport fertilizer, seed, grain, and other supplies from on-farm sites to fields and other designated locations.
9. Obey all speed limits and traffic laws.
10. Ensure load truck is properly and securely loaded.
11. Perform post-trip vehicle inspections and related documentation and logs.
12. Always conduct oneself in a positive and professional manner.
13. Turn in scale tickets and documentation at the end of the workday.
14. Maintain and clean vehicle (interior and exterior) consistently.
15. Complete and submit all required and requested paperwork.
16. Implement and follow all trucking SOP’s and the Crises Management Plan.
17. Maintain all required certifications and licenses.
