Job Description
A Heavy Equipment mechanic is responsible for providing mechanical support to equipment including crawler, cranes, hydraulic cranes, and/or anchor winches at the Houma, LA repair facility, and various jobsites. Candidates must have a positive attitude towards team members, hard work, strong work ethic and commitment to quality and safety.
Essential Job Functions:
- Mechanical aptitude to diagnose and troubleshoot any malfunctions to equipment.
- Capable of accomplishing medium to heavy repairs with some supervision.
- Perform routine maintenance, complete repairs and test equipment as needed (i.e., hydraulic, electrical systems and mechanical components).
- Follows all company and work site safety policies/procedures and commits to an "Incident and Injury Free" work environment.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience in general heavy equipment repairs and/or crawler cranes, hydraulic cranes, and anchor winches.
- Heavy equipment dealer technician experience preferred.
- Must have strong mechanical knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Experience with using a cutting torch preferred.
- Ability to work a 50 hours per week.
- Short-term travel may be required from time to time with extended stays possible.
- Candidate must supply some of their own hand tools, such as wrenches, sockets, etc.
Required Certification or Licenses
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record. Must be able to get Class D Chauffeurs license within 90-days of hire.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift or carry miscellaneous equipment, supplies, and parts up to 50 lbs. unassisted regularly.
- Must be able to tolerate harsh weather conditions, confined spaces, heights, rough seas, vibrations, and high noise levels.
- Work will frequently require individuals to push, pull, bend, squat, crawl, climb ladders, or stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to perform other physical activities as part of equipment repair, survey, or inspection.
