SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Welding Area Manager lays out, fits, tack welds and welds machines and fabricated steel according to blueprints and specifications. Responsible for training employees on welding procedures, grinding procedures and blueprint reading. Sets up welding stations with parts and fixtures. Helps ensure that quality and safety standards are met.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SUPERVISORY REPONSIBILITIES
This job is responsible to oversee assigned plant departments if the Area Manager is absent.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
3-5 years’ related experience in a manufacturing environment and/or additional related education preferred.
Welding certification from college or technical school preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATION
Blueprint Reading Certification
Forklift Operators Certification
Welder certification of unlimited thickness grooved plate in vertical up position for GMAW, FCAW and SMAW
Welder certification of unlimited thickness grooved plate in overhead position for GMAW, FCAW and SMAW
Successful completion of internal welding certification
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Ability to read, write and comprehend documents and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to internal and external individuals and groups.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Basic computer skills. Prior experience with a computer preferred.
ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Ability to troubleshoot painting problems and know how to resolve them. Ability to lead employees in the department.
