Job Description

The Applications Engineer, as part of our Inside Sales team, will provide customer support while working closely with our Regional Sales Managers, Customer Service, Engineering, and Product Management. The Applications Engineer is responsible for providing technical assistance to ensure a smooth flow of customer information and requirements. This includes offering the appropriate WEISS products for customer applications. This position will report directly to the Inside Sales & Applications Engineering Manager.

Job Responsibilities

- Respond to customer inquiries and incoming leads relating to use, operation, and maintenance of WEISS products.

- Make appropriate product recommendations for new applications.

- Proactively distribute high potential or strategically important opportunities to the regional sales team.

- Effectively communicate customer presentations and solution proposals via phone, email, and face to face interactions.

- Assess the technical challenges the customer is trying to achieve or overcome.

- Ask the right questions to convey understanding and gain credibility as a subject matter expert to achieve bid opportunities, present solutions, and gain commitments from the customer.

- Communicate with customers to get the desired information and answer their inquiries and resolve customer complaints.

- Review drawings, plans, and customer documents to develop and prepare cost estimates, project improvements, and develop project specific products to meet customer requirements.

- Communicate requirements to internal teams to establish clear expectations for success, while remaining aware of others' work priorities.

- Effective sales reporting to aid in market analysis, new product development, and pricing strategies.

- Ability to create assembly models for customer quotes.

- Perform other miscellaneous job duties and related functions as directed.


Desired Skills & Experience

- Pursing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering field.

- Minimum 1-2 years’ experience in manufacturing or sales assist environment.

- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus, but not required.

- Must be able to demonstrate success relating to customers where technical applications and engineering interface are essential to getting product specified.

- Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks with a sense of urgency.

- Well organized with an aptitude for details.

- Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multi-task and produce quality results under pressure.

- Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.)

- Experience in SolidWorks & AutoCAD. Must be self-starter and able to work independently with little supervision.
