Summary
The Virtual Intern is responsible for supporting the Network on specific tasks as they relate to Welcoming Week and especially member support and engagement in the campaign as well as data management on the Member Forum, the online communications platform used by network members to ensure all information is current and correct.
We are a small team—candidates can therefore expect to gain a broad range of practical skills and hands-on experience in program support, data analysis, and management. This includes special research projects, writing, administrative support for programming, and more.
As this is a virtual internship, candidates should expect to participate regularly in team calls and Zoom chats, as well as actively use email and chat platforms (Slack, Google Chat) to communicate progress and ask questions.
Responsibilities
Support Welcoming Week member planning and engagement
Attend regular planning meetings
Create and distribute materials to assist members in planning and sharing their events
Ensure as many events are registered through the Welcoming Week website as possible
Create and execute a member engagement strategy
Create an evaluation
Support the clean up and management of organization and individual information in the Member Forum
Pull data reports from Higher Logic listing all organizations and individuals who are set
up with access to the forumDo outreach to current members to ensure individuals with access to the forum are correct; note and remove any that need to be removed
Attend regular planning meetings with the Events Director and Network and Programs Coordinator
Participate regularly in team check-ins and full staff meetings
Potential for other projects as determined by skill, interest, and need

Enthusiastic about research and enjoys learning and working through complex processes and systems
Knowledge
Candidates must have a background in program management, research, and data analysis or related fields, preferably within the nonprofit sector. Some technical experience in data management would be an asset, as well as an interest in diversity, inclusion, immigration, refugees, and/or community building.
Attributes
A high degree of flexibility and responsiveness is essential for this position. Candidates must possess a strong work ethic, excellent written and spoken communication, and superb attention to detail. A proactive, can-do attitude and strong motivation to get the most out of the internship experience will be a critical measurement of success.
As this is a virtual internship, candidates must be able to manage their time and workload without supervision. They must also adhere to all the same professional standards in their demeanor and work quality as they would in an on-site internship.
Other Requirements
Candidates must be enrolled in a university degree program. Preference will be given to college sophomores and juniors, as well as those willing to commit for the full summer term.
Candidates must also have consistent access to a computer and a reliable Internet connection.
