The Emergency Communications Supervisor is a highly skilled public safety operational expert who is passionate about supporting the organization’s line level staff through caring, compassionate, and consistent leadership. The Emergency Communications Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the communications center and the performance of Emergency Communications Specialists and Emergency Communications Call Takers.
$36.77 - $46.60 hourly, plus benefits (see benefits tab).
This position is non-exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirements of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

This range encompasses the nine pay steps that Weld County Government has available should you earn the position and demonstrate satisfactory performance over time.The following job duties are established to outline the basic duties and responsibilities of the above captioned position. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Managing Operations (50%):
• Function as an operational subject matter expert.
• Manage all aspects of scheduling for line level staff including leave requests, on-call, and overtime.
• Ensure the center is always sufficiently staffed and adjust as needed to account for scheduled and unscheduled absences.
• Maintain a functional skillset on all console positions and work console positions as needed to maintain minimum staffing and handle fluctuations in workload.
• Maintain constant room awareness and take command responsibility over critical incidents assisting as needed to facilitate the most efficient response.
• Ensure equipment and systems are operational. Perform first line troubleshooting of equipment and software issues and report technical repairs.
• Identify opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards.
• Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization’s service to its customers by offering suggestions to improve processes and procedures.
• Respond to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquiries and complaints including the preparation of necessary written documentation.
Supervising Employees (40%):
• Complete all administrative tasks associated with managing direct reports.
• Resolve problems, mediate conflicts encountered during daily operations, determine appropriate solutions, and promote teamwork.
• Engage in regular communication with and inform staff of relevant issues and their impact on the organization.
• Encourage and guide staff toward operational goals and assist staff to achieve performance standards.
Other Duties as Assigned (10%):
• Assist with a variety of administrative tasks as required.
• Work varying schedules including on-call and mandated shifts.
• Maintain reliable and predictable attendance during scheduled work hours.
• Maintain on-call availability and the ability to report within 2 hours of being called in during scheduled on-call hours.
• Apply the highest principles of customer service in all interactions to represent the organization with empathy, integrity, and respect.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• High school diploma or equivalent, AND;
• A minimum of 2 years of experience as an Emergency Communications Specialist.
• Internal candidates must have a minimum of a “satisfactory” rating in every category of most recent performance evaluation.
• High emotional intelligence and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to establish rapport and build strong professional relationships.
• Strong knowledge of modern public safety communications principles, procedures, techniques, and equipment.?
• Candidate must possess a driver’s license by the employment start date and maintain a valid license for the duration of employment.
• Candidate must pass a background check prior to employment start date.
• Candidate must pass a substance use screening prior to employment start date.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 1 or more years of experience managing employees.
• Fully trained for internal candidates.
CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES REQUIRED:
• International Academies of Emergency Dispatch, Emergency Medical Dispatch Certification.
• Colorado Crime Information Center Certification.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
