What are the responsibilities and job description for the Para Actuary position at Wellabe?

JOB SUMMARY

The Para Actuary is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the actuarial staff.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·         Develop and analyze basic to moderately complex statistical reports for monthly and quarterly studies and management decisions.

·         Conduct data studies and root cause analysis to determine pricing differences when compared to other major competition.

·         Assist with product filings and memorandums for the state departments of insurance, disapproving replies as needed.

·         Analyze current procedures and research and recommend improvements for increased efficiency and effectiveness based on cost-effective utilization of departmental resources.

·         Manages and conducts basic to moderately complex research projects and communicates findings to department of insurance, actuarial staff and others; Including explaining technical data to support rate changes to the applicable state.

·         Assist with financial projection models including initialization for the current planning period, gathering data from multiple sources, verifying the accuracy of data, and ensuring all inputs are updated, linkages are correct, and formulas are appropriate.

Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Education

·         Bachelor’s in computer science, mathematics, statistics, business, or related field. Combination of education and/or relevant work experience may be accepted in lieu of degree.

Experience

·         Experience with programming languages, data analytics and/or the insurance industry, a plus.
